The presence of Phthanophaneron harveyi is thoroughly substantiated by the caught of four specimens in two localities off the west coast of the mid-Gulf of California. These new findings of the Panamic flashlightfish extend its distribution 1005 km north of published records and provide information on its feeding habits, biometric data and otolith morphology
