Las algas verdes como fuente alternativa de compuestos anticoagulantes

Araceli Rodríguez-Cuautle y Jesús Iván Murillo-Álvarez

We assessed the anticoagulant activity of aqueous extracts obtained at two different temperatures (25 and 80 ° C) from the macroalgae Codium cuneatum. The extracts were subjected to tests of prothrombin time (PT) and activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT). For APTT assay did not show activity. However, the extract obtained at 25 ° C showed activity in the TP test, raising the normal clotting time to 196 s, so that was fractionated by ion exchange chromatography. This fractionation resulted in two polysaccharide fractions. The fraction with 0.5 M NaCl to increase the clotting time of 300 s in the PT assay. These results show that the polysaccharide fractions extracted from Codium cuneatum are compounds with interesting potential as anticoagulant substance.
