The 2011 International Malacology Reunion presented a Workshop on Bivalve Taxonomy by Dr. Paul Valentich.Scott of the Santa Barbara Natural History Museum, and a Symposium on the History of Malacology in Baja California convened by Dr. Hans Bertsch of the Instituto de Investigaciones Oceanológicas de la UABC, presenting 9 special conferences. The sessions are filled with 72 oral presentations and 66 posters in the themes: Ecology, Systematics and Phylogeny, Paleontology, Anthropology, and Aquaculture and Fisheries. These presentations will be complemented by 3 Keynote Addresses, a forum discussing the CONABIO species catalog, a display of shells and fossils, and a photographic exhibit of Prehispanic shell artifacts, by the INAH of Dra. Lourdes Suárez Díez and photographer Martha López Díaz.
