Epiphytic algae seasonal variation on the brown macroalgae Sargassum sinicola (Phaeophyceae) at Margarita and Magdalena Islands, Baja California Sur, México was studied. The sampled were collected in six sites during 1987 and 1988. We found 54 epiphytic algae, of these 43 are Rhodophyta (79.6%), 6 Phaeophyceae (11.1%) and 5 Chlorophyta (9.2%). The order Ceramiales was represented with 31 taxa. Ceramium and Polysiphonia were genera with more species. The Sargassum sinicola thallus had the highest number (36) of epiphytic species for winter; this coincides with decline of populations of Sargassum sinicola and the decrease in water temperature. In this work was founded a greater number of epiphytes in Margarita and Magdalena Island’s.
