In the approach of the existence of three different stocks in the California Current System, the mean of the larval abundances of the Pacific Sardine, Sardinops sagax, obtained by CalCOFI and IMECOCAL programs, was plotted in space and time by temperature intervals, 10-17°C, 18-21°C, and 22-27°C. These intervals were used by Félix-Uraga, et. Al (2005) to separate stocks from San Pedro CA, USA to Bahía Magdalena, México; the stocks was termed "Cold", "Temperate", and "Warm" according to temperature which fished. The areal distribution of the stocks showed that the Cold stock spawning along the coast from San Francisco to Cabo San Lucas and this spawning is more oceanic in the north, off Point Conception (heavy), around of Punta Eugenia (intermediate), and very coastal near of Cabo San Lucas in a very narrow coastal band from Sebastián Viscaíno to Golfo de Ulloa (north of Bahía Magdalena). The temporal abundances showed the Cold stock very diminished in the early 50’s, followed by briefly increase in the Temperate stock in the same period, and a big increase in the warm stock between 1958 and 1984. After that, the Temperate stock increased slightly from 1985 to 1993 and since 1994 the Cold stock increase to 2002.We found that the recovery of the Cold stock starting in 1994, when the spring spawning was established again off California coasts.
