E. Suares Morales y José Ricardo Palomares García
From plankton samples taken at Puerto Escondido, a Mexican shallow-water embayment located in the southern portion of the eastern coast of the Baja California Peninsula, a new species of Monstrilla, M.gibbosa, is described from a single adult female specimen. Among several distinctive features on the fifth leg and genital complex, and in the antennular structure and proportions, the new species can be separated from all other previously known monstrilloids by the presence of two anterior ventral protuberances on the cephalosome.
